About the event

The Drama program at DANI is one of our most popular to date, providing opportunities for all participants to get involved in accessible activities focusing on performance skills, building confidence, and creative expression. Participants practice skills such as improv, memorization of lines, coordination and gross motor skills, and using intonation, facial expressions and body language to convey different emotions.

Each year, our Drama program culminates in one of our largest agency-wide projects: a live, on-stage play production featuring the amazing talents of our ACE Program staff and participants. In addition to performing, participants are actively involved in all aspects of the show, including preparing handmade sets and props to be used on stage.

This year marks our 12th annual play, with a long-awaited performance of Fiddler on the Roof! Please join us on Monday May 26th at 7:00pm at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts!

About Fiddler On The Roof

Fiddler On The Roof Junior is a special adaptation of the classic Broadway musical, which tackles the universal theme of tradition in ways that reach across barriers of race, class, nationality, and religion.

Set in the little village of Anatevka, the story centers on Tevye, a poor dairyman, and his five daughters. With the help of a colorful and tight-knit Jewish community, Tevye tries to protect his daughters and instill them with tradition in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia. The show features a star turn in Tevye, among the most memorable roles in the musical theatre canon. Its celebrated score, by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick, features songs loved the world over, including "Tradition," "If I Were A Rich Man," and "Sunrise, Sunset."
