What is DANI?
DANI (Developing and Nurturing Independence) is a registered Canadian charity (836163329RR0001) founded in 2006 by parents whose adult children with developmental disabilities lost access to public support at age 21. Today DANI serves more than 420 individuals each year across the Greater Toronto Area.
Who does DANI serve?
DANI supports neurodivergent adults and adults with developmental disabilities, along with their families, through person-directed programs that focus on each person's strengths and goals.
What programs does DANI offer?
DANI offers the ACE day program (life skills, vocational, STEM, wellness and creative arts), WorkWise supported employment, the STEP skills-training certification program, Valued Community Roles (real volunteer and paid community placements), Recreational Sundays, residential support at DANI's Place, and social enterprises including kosher catering, a café, a gift store and an event venue.
Where is DANI located?
DANI has three locations: the Clark Campus at 501 Clark Avenue West, Vaughan; the Magnetic Campus at 401 Magnetic Drive, Toronto; and DANI's Place residence at 174 Crestwood Road, Vaughan.
What is the STEP program?
STEP (Skills Training Employment Program) is a 13-week evening certification program for neurodivergent adults, with a Technology stream and a Hospitality and Service Excellence stream. STEP has an 87.5% success rate in certifying its students.
Does DANI offer kosher catering?
Yes. DANI Social Enterprises operates COR-certified kosher catering from Thornhill, serving the Greater Toronto Area, plus a seasonal patio café. Profits fund DANI's charitable programs.
